Bangladesh have dismissed two key Sri Lanka batters – Kusal Mendis and Angelo Mathews – through Taijul Islam to grab the momentum back in their favour on the fifth and final day of the Chattogram Test.

Sri Lanka, who resumed day's play at 39 for two after 17.1 overs, are 128 for four after 40 overs, leading by 60 runs, at Lunch.

With the visitors scoring free and with relative ease from the start of day, it was the wily old Shakib who arrived to make the impact with his control and game-reading skills. The all-rounder pulled back the run-rate and allowed Taijul to settle into a rhythm, which was lacking earlier in the day.

Taijul first bowled out Kusal Mendis, who scored 48 off just 43 balls, with a beauty before dismissing Mathews, who scored 199 in the first innings, with a brilliant reflex-catch off his own bowling to bag his third victim. Mathews got out for a duck, the third of his Test career, spanning 94 Tests.

Bangladesh would be delighted to get the two batters out as both Mendis and Mathews boast a high average, compared to the rest of the Lankans, when it comes to batting in the second innings.

‘ইরান আত্মসমর্পণ করবে না’

আলি খামেনি বলেন, ‘যারা ইরান, এর জনগণ ও ইতিহাস সম্পর্কে জানেন তারা এমন ভাষায় হুমকি দেন না। কারণ, ইরানিরা আত্মসমর্পণ করা জাতি নয়।’
