Duck tales: Tigers, Windies write new chapter

When Bangladesh scored 365 runs in the Mirpur Test against Sri Lanka earlier last month, six of their batters had departed for naughts. Bangladesh became the only Test side in history to have suffered the fate twice after the West Indies in 2002 gave the Tigers a first taste, which is only familiar to New Zealand, India, Pakistan and South Africa as of now.   

However, thanks to Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das' heroics against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh had also achieved the highest score achieved by a team in Tests after six of their batters departed for ducks.

Now in Antigua today, six ducks were displayed on the Tigers' scorecard again but no meaningful team total to divert the attention this time as Bangladesh crumbled to 103 in around a session's time on day one of the first Test of the two-match series. Bangladesh also became the first team to tally six ducks in consecutive Tests.

After the Tigers' first innings ended, the home side came out to bat and negotiated 15 overs with utmost caution in testing conditions for batting as the Windies head to Tea on 15 for no loss.

Meanwhile, the West Indies extended their lead as the only side to have dismissed six batters for a duck in an innings more than once. The Windies have done it thrice while Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India and England have done it once.
