Nasum, Mosaddek keep Windies at bay

Bangladesh started well with the ball in the second ODI at Guyana today after sending West Indies to bat. Mosaddek Hossain, included in place of Taskin Ahmed, took advantage of the spin-friendly conditions to send back the dangerous Kyle Mayers to get Bangladesh off to a positive start.

The other spinners then chipped in as Windies lost four wickets for 45 runs in 18 overs.

Bangladesh will count themselves unlucky with opener Shai Hope, who has scored a lot of runs against the Tigers in the past, getting a reprieve in an eventful fifth over by Mehedi Hasan Miraz. Hope danced down the track but was beaten by the turn and flight but Nurul Hasan Sohan failed to hold onto the ball as he attempted to take off the bails.

The spinners however were right on the money for most of the opening exchanges.

Mayers wanted to defend a delivery turning away from him in the 11th over with runs hard to come by but Mosaddek's delivery just beat the bat and clipped the off-stump in a classic off-spinner's dismissal as Mayers departed for 17 off 36 deliveries.

Nasum then castled Brooks with an arm-delivery in the 15th over as Windies could not take advantage of the Powerplay overs. With spinners squeezing the runs, Sohan then breathed a sigh of relief as Hope then tried to break the shackles against Nasum but only miscued it to mid-wicket to depart for 18 off 45 deliveries.

Nicholas Pooran, who had been instrumental in the final T20I, lasted only one delivery as he tried to reverse-sweep Nasum but managed to get an inside-edge onto his stumps to leave for naught and give Nasum his third wicket of the game.

After six overs, Nasum's figures were three wickets for just nine runs.
