Drama surrounding Miraz’s departure from Chattogram
There was drama today afternoon regarding cricketer Mehedi Hasan Miraz leaving Chattogram Challengers outfit and departing for Dhaka after he was stripped of captaincy yesterday before their match against Khulna Tigers in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
At one point, the cricketer was ready to depart from the team hotel before team logistics manager Hirok talked him into staying. Miraz's flight was scheduled to depart for Dhaka at 5:30pm.
"How they took the decision [to take away captaincy] maybe there was a communication gap. Maybe the coach had told a lot of things before departing. Even three hours before leaving, he told me that I won't be captaining the side. It doesn't matter but I asked why the decision came like this. I said that if you had thoughts like that, you could have told me earlier. Did I say that I have to be given captaincy?" Miraz said while standing outside the team hotel.
"It's actually also very demeaning for a player," he had said with his car about to depart for the airport.
"I don't have any qualms with the owner, he is a very good man. I have heard that before the coach left, he had said a lot about me. I heard that I only play for myself and am selfish. I talked to the coach for 30 minutes today and he didn't say anything like that," Miraz reiterated to the media.
With there being only 30 minutes left before his flight was scheduled to leave, Miraz along with his family went back inside the team hotel, convinced by the logistics manager to stay.
