Having suffered a loss against Rangpur Riders, Fortune Barishal returned to winning ways in the first fixture of the Chattogram phase today.

Tamim Iqbal and Dawid Malan put up a century stand as Barishal won against Dhaka Capitals by eight wickets at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

After Najmul Hossain Shanto's dismissal in the second over in chase of Dhaka's 139, Tamim and Malan strung together a 117-run stand for the third wicket. Tamim was assertive during a 48-ball 61, laced with six fours and a six before he was castled by Thisara Perera. Malan remained unbeaten on 49 as Barishal picked up their sixth win this BPL.

Earlier, Tanzid Hasan Tamim played a lone hand but rest of the Dhaka Capitals outfit could not play around him. Liton Das was the first to depart, nicking one from Ripon Mondol, to depart for 13.

Munim Shahriar and Jean-Pierre Kotze did not trouble the scorers much before Tanzid and Sabbir Hossain produced a 30-run partnership. Just when it appeared that Dhaka might recover, left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam produced a double wicket over. Sabbir looked good when he hit the bowler for six but hoping for a similar result again, he skied one to depart for 10 and skipper Thisara Perera fell for a duck in the same over to depart for a duck.

After Mosaddek Hossain fell for a loose shot, Tanzid carried Dhaka's hopes carrying the team to 120 for seven. He departed for a 44-ball 62 and Dhaka innings crumbled and came to an end in 19.3 overs. Tanvir was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with 3 for 39.
