Rajshahi’s overseas players, coaching staff to leave Dhaka from tonight
After a series of drama, Durbar Rajshahi's foreign players and coaching staff are set to leave Bangladesh tonight after completing their stint in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League.
According to a press release issued by the franchise, Zimbabwe all-rounder Ryan Burl is set to depart for Harare at 03:00 am
(Monday), Pakistan's Mohammad Haris will leave for Lahore at 01:40 pm tomorrow, while Caribbean cricketer Miguel Cummins is set to depart on February 5. Head coach Ijaz Ahmed will also fly tomorrow.
"The remaining players will depart at the earliest possible time on the subject of getting available flight tickets," the press release read.
Earlier, several media outlets reported that Rajshahi's overseas players were stuck at their team hotel as they were yet to receive their payments and their return flight tickets which are provided by the franchise were also not made available. To make things worse, it was reported that the team owner could not be reached to provide solutions for these issues.
The franchise's official Facebook page was also made unavailable since Sunday noon.
The Daily Star contacted Burl regarding the matter and asked him about his return ticket to which he replied: "Not yet. I don't have a flight…How can we check out with no flight?" Burl said on Sunday morning.
Earlier on Saturday, Rajshahi got eliminated from the league stage of the BPL after Khulna Tigers beat Dhaka Capitals by six wickets to qualify for the Eliminator. Khulna's victory pushed Rajshahi out of the top four by virtue of a better net run-rate.
The franchise has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons from the get-go of the tournament and although their campaign has come to an end, they are continuing to make headlines.
