Bangladesh Premier League franchise Durbar Rajshahi's practice session was cancelled today owing to players' unpaid salaries, it has been learnt.

The BPL started this year with none of the teams having paid the 50 percent salaries that they were supposed to pay before the start of the tournament. While some teams have been able to pay the players since the start, suggestions are that more teams have not.

Durbar Rajshahi players had previously stated in a press conference that they were hopeful that unpaid wages would be taken care of soon.

However, it has been learnt that while foreign players of Rajshahi had received 25 percent of the payment, local players found to their dissatisfaction that their checks had bounced.

"Some payments were made and the time by which local players were to receive payments has been pushed back by two days. Checks did not bounce, or maybe one or two did. The owner is out of the country and he was in Bangkok at that time, so there was an issue as he could not pick up the call," a team management source said under conditions of anonymity.

Players have informed to various media that their checks bounced.

The team was set to begin practice today at 10am at the M A Aziz Stadium in Chattogram but the franchise revealed through a message to the media at 9:48am that practice had been cancelled.
