Taskin, Shanto brilliantly combine to remove Salt
It came as no surprise that Taskin Ahmed ended up giving the initial breakthrough for Bangladesh even though his skipper Tamim Iqbal had opted to not give him the brand new ball to begin proceedings after winning the toss against England in the second ODI in Mirpur today.
England are 52 for one after the end of 12 overs, with first ODI's player-of-the-match Dawid Malan fresh at the crease with opener Jason Roy, batting on 39 off 44 balls.
At the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Tamim instead chose to operate with Shakib Al Hasan and Taijul Islam but the England openers – Phil Salt and Roy – negotiated left-arm orthodox spin with relative ease until Taskin was introduced in the innings' fifth over with England at 16 for naught.
The in-form Tigers quick, who had a hamstring concern, got the ball talking from the get go and was rewarded in his second over when Salt nicked one to the first slip where Najmul Hossain Shanto took a low catch that complemented Taskin's delivery.
The over before, Shakib almost had his victim as Roy was lucky to not have gotten bowled out as Shakib's flighted delivery on the good length went on to miss the off stump by a whisker.
