Mushfiqur departs after 50, Bangladesh staring at crushing defeat
Soon after completing his 47th half-century in ODIs, Mushfiqur Rahim hit a ball straight to Adil Rashid to become Topley's fourth scalp of the match and depart for 51 off 64 balls in the last ball of the 31st over.
Mushfiqur took a single off Adil Rashid in the previous over, to reach the milestone off 61 balls. Mushifiqur, who had hit four fours in his innings, attempted to hit his first six but ended up losing his wicket.
Mushfiq's wicket, however, won't be a deciding factor in the fate of the match as the Tigers have already surrendered to the English Lions and are waiting for an inevitable defeat.
With 18 overs to go, Bangladesh need 199 runs to win with just four wickets in hand.
Mahedi Hasan has joined Towhid Hridoy and the duo's only realistic goal now would be to try and reduce the margin of defeat.
Liton departs for 76
Liton Das' classy knock ended on 76 as Bangladesh lost their fifth wicket in the 21st over with 121 runs on the board.
After dominating Woakes for most of his innings, hitting him for five boundaries across the ground, Liton got deceived by a cutter from the pacer and edged the ball straight into the gloves of Jos Buttler.
In his 66-ball stay at the middle, Liton laced seven fours and a couple of sixes and looked a class apart from the other Bangladeshi batters.
His dismissal also ended a 72-run partnership between him and Mushfiqur.
Mushfiqur is now joined by Towhid Hridoy.
100 up for Bangladesh
Liton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim brought up their 50-run stand as Bangladesh crossed the 100-run mark in the 19th over.
Mushfiq hit a Sum Curran through the covers for a four to bring up the team's 100 runs and also the half-century stand off 58 balls.
The duo got together in the ninth over after Miraz departed as the team's fourth batter, with the score on 49-4. After 20 overs, Liton has moved on to 74 off 63 balls while Mushfiqur is batting on 29 off 27 balls.
Liton hits 50 as Bangladesh look to rebuild
Liton Das brings up his 11th ODI half-century and second in World Cups off just 38 balls with a single in the 11th over.
Liton has been looking on song from the very first over, when he hit a hattrick of boundaries against Woakes. He has hit four more boundaries and a six from a pull shot since then.
The opener has already seen four of his partner walk back to the pavilion but has remained solid at the other end is seemingly enjoying batting at the flat track in Dharamshala.
Right now, he and Mushfiqur are trying to rebuild the innings from the rubble.
Topley, Woakes put England on top
Trouble deepens for Bangladesh as skipper Shakib Al Hasan and Mehedi Hasan Miraz also depart cheaply, to leave the side four down with 57 runs on the board after the first 10 overs.
Shakib became Topley's third victim of the match, as he nipped the ball away from the left-hander just enough to evade his bat and smash into the off-stump.
After the skipper departed for one, Miraz gave Liton some company for a while before edging a ball from Chrish Woakes, who has been expensive, to the keeper.
While wickets have continued to tumble at one end, Liton has been going great guns at the other end, racing to 44 off 35 balls with the help of six fours and a six.
Mushfiqur Rahim is keeping him company for now.
Bangladesh suffer early setback
Bangladesh suffered early setback in their chase against England, losing Tanzid Hasan and in-form batter Najmul Hossain Shanto in the second over while chasing 365 in both team's second match at the ICC World Cup in Dharamshala.
Bangladesh got off to a flier in the first over, courtesy of trio of boundaries from the bat of Liton Das off Chris Woakes. But in the very next over, the Tigers suffered a double blow, with opener Tanzid and in-form batter Shanto getitng caught in consecutive deliveries from Reece Topley.
Tanzid fended at an away moving delivery, only to edge the ball to Jonny Bairstow at second slip to depart for just one.
Shanto also got caught at point for a golden duck, as Bangladesh slipped to 14-2.
Shoriful, Mahedi help restrict England to 364
What looked all set for a 400-plus score for England was eventually pulled back to 364 for nine, thanks to the guile of pacer Shoriful Islam and off-spinner Mahedi Hasan.
England were 3 for 296 in the 40th over when Jos Buttler fell for a quickfire 20 after Dawid Malan had plundered 140 off just 107 deliveries. With Joe Root going strong and a long middle-and-lower order to follow, England were threatening to post a massive score. But Shoriful used all his knuckle-ball to great effect to strike triple blow and stem the run chase. The left-arm pacer ended with figures of three for 75.
Meanwhile, Mahedi, who was drafted in place of Mahmudullah, took care of the rest of the batters with clever variations of pace and length, accounting for four wickets for 71 runs in eight overs. Shakib Al Hasan and Taskin Ahmed took a wicket apiece.
Shoriful deals triple blow
Left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam used his variations to excellent effect to prize out three quick wickets as England's juggernaut eased off a bit in their search for a 400-run total today.
Shoriful uprooted Jos Buttler's (20) stumps and then in the next over got Joe Root to balloon one with his knuckle ball. The next ball he broke the timber of Liam Livingstone (0) as England were 307 for five in 42 overs.
Earlier, Root became the all-time leading scorer for England in ODI World Cups, eclipsing Graham Gooch (898) on way to scoring 82.
Off-spinner Mahedi Hasan ended a swushbuckling innings from Dawid Malan as England skipper Jos Buttler announced his arrival with a six. Malan fell for 140 off 107 deliveries, missing one from Mahedi, who had replaced Mahmudullah in the playing XI.
But with Joe Root looking primed for a century and Buttler in plundering mood, England are set for a massive total.
Malan 100*, England cross 200
Dawid Malan brought up his century as England brought up 200 in the 33rd over of their innings against Bangladesh.
The left-handed opener brought up his ton off 91 deliveries -- his fourth this year at an average almost touching 80. He had scored another century against the same opposition in Bangladesh earlier this year.
Joe Root is also looking in good touch as England are building for a massive score in Dharamshala.
Malan, Root motoring along
Dawid Malan and Joe Root are motoring along with the scoring rate as England are building up for a massive score in their World Cup fixture against Bangladesh in Dharamshala on Tuesday.
Malan is on 93, nearing his first World Cup century while Root is batting on 37 as England are 184 for one in 29 overs.
Shakib ends ominous opening stand
Shakib Al Hasan outfoxed Jonny Bairstow with a brilliant arm delivery to uproot his castles as Bangladesh broke a 115-run opening stand. The Bangladesh skipper flighted one outside off before drawing his length fuller and had one go through the bat and pad as Bairstow's 52-run innings came to an end.
Dawid Malan, though, was going strong at 61 and was joined in the middle by Joe Root.
Bairstow, Malan start strong
Openers Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan gave England a solid start after they were asked to bat first by Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan.
The two batters rode a bit of luck and were watchful at the start before letting loose with a few powerful shots against the three frontline pacers of the Bangladesh team. The defending world champions reached 50 in eight overs before spin was introduced for the first time.
Bairstow was batting on 23 and Malan on 26. Bangladesh had a few close shouts but England survived the early swing and bounce on offer before getting on into the attack,
Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan won the second toss in a row, this time against England, and opted to field first at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Stadium in Dharamshala today.
As predicted, off-spinner Sheikh Mahedi replaces Mahmudullah in the playing XI as Bangladesh look to bolster their bowling against the might of English batting.
England have one change too, with pacer Reece Topley replacing all-rounder Moeen Ali.
The sandy outfield in Dharamshala grabbed all the headlines ahead of the Bangladesh-England fixture, with ICC rating the ground condition as average while both team's expressing their reservations about the condition of the outfield. Heavy overnight rain had posed question marks whether the game would get underway on time, but here we are, set for a timely start to this crucial encounter.
England, the defending champions, began the World Cup with a nine-wicket defeat against New Zealand while Bangladesh beat Afghanistan by six wickets at this venue in their first match,
