Elora’s art of colourful threads

Elora’s room full of portraits of famous people, recreated historic photographs and paintings will catch anyone’s eyes for her use of a unique medium to create those.

Her arts are neither made of colour nor clicked with a camera. The pictures are sewed on clothes with various shades of fine threads.

She has been creating these artworks for the last two decades.

Norail’s daughter Elora lives in a government quarter in Azimpur with her husband and two daughters.

Famous painter SM Sultan was her father’s friend. Elora says, she found her love for art while sitting beside SM Sultan and watching his works.

Later, she started her work with colorful threads with the inspiration of Sultan’s apprentice Dulal Chandra Saha. Elora considers him as her master.

She has already made more than 50 artworks including the portraits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mendela, Mother Teresa, SM Sultan, Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Runa Laila, Sabina Yasmin, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Sakib Al Hasan and so on.

She has alsorecreated photographs of many historical events including that of the Liberation War of 1971, Language Movement of 1952 and other famous paintings of eminent artists.

Now Elora’s dream is to participate in an international competition with her artworks in France.
