Rare white tiger cub attracts visitors to Ctg zoo
Visitors throng the Chittagong Zoo to see its latest attraction -- a rare full albino Royal Bengal Tiger cub.
Three cubs -- one male and two female -- were born to tiger couple Raj-Pori on July 19, but the lone male cub died the next day after being accidentally crushed under the tigress.
Of the two surviving female siblings, one is white, otherwise known as albino.
The deceased tiger cub was also an albino one.
This is the first time a white tiger was born in Bangladesh, said Dr Shahadat Hossain Suvo, acting deputy curator of the zoo.
These rare tigers are usually categorised as partial or full albino, the latter being rarer, he said.
The eye colour differentiates between a full and a partial albino. A full albino tiger has blue eyes while a partial albino has green or yellow eye colour, he also said.
The cub born at the zoo is a full albino one, Dr Shahadat added.
