'Kannakatir Mela' returns to Lalmonirhat border after 4 years
Four years later, Narayani Rani met her father. When she spotted him on the other side of the barbed wire at the Lalmonirhat border, she burst into tears.
Thousands of people including Narayani Rani, gathered near the Bangladesh-India border in Lalmonirhat during the Ganga Puja.
The mela gives relatives, separated by the border, a rare chance to reunite for a while. Even though it is a border-bond fair, the locals call it the "Kannakatir Mela" (Crying fair).
Today's Inside Bangladesh features Lalmonirhat's "Kannakatir Mela".
