Dreaming Bigger, Dreaming Better

On April 24, 2013, a disaster shook the whole nation when the Rana Plaza building, an eight-storeyed factory complex supplying clothes to big brand fashion retailers, collapsed to it's ruins. The harsh reality behind the clothes sold in the flashy stores of the West was shown to the world. After three years, as experts moaned about how the government, retailers, factory owners and consumers have done so little to insure security of the workers, a small miracle came out from the tragedy and is slowly taking shape in the Southeastern corner of the country. Replacing factory floors with classrooms, more than thirty female garment's workers have stepped out of the factory to pursue an undergraduate degree in a first-of-it's-kind course at the Asian University for Women (AUW).
