With every passing day, the stench and pollution of the Hatirjheel-Begunbari Lake seems to be getting worse. Wastes of all kinds are spilling over the lake, express roads, bridges and walkways. Before the renovation project, Hatirjheel could have been well described as the dumping zone of Dhaka, a ditch carrying household and industrial waste. Unfortunately, two years after the inauguration of the new and improved lake, it seems to be facing old problems yet again.
