Surviving the Disaster

This year, one of the most devastating floods in the last ten years of Bangladesh has affected 3.4 million people mostly in the northern districts of the country. Hundreds of thousands of people have become homeless; and property and infrastructures worth hundreds of crores of Taka has been destroyed. An outbreak of water-borne diseases and a scarcity of relief and rescue operations have further deteriorated the situation. However, there is a definite chance that a catastrophe of this kind with greater force of devastation might engulf Bangladesh in the coming years.
