Making Youth Voices Count
Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC) is hosting the fifth Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) to amplify the voices of young citizens and inform and include them in the processes that shape national policies. This engagement is imperative to reflect upon the existing challenges and opportunities faced by youth.
With the theme "Desh Amar Dayitto Amar", (My country, My responsibility), YLS 2018 is a call for young minds from different corners of Bangladesh to partake in a three day event that will include leadership training, panel discussions on social issues, and collaborative activities. It will be held in Dhaka from September 27 to 29, 2018, at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre. Students studying at any accredited local university, and young professionals up to the age of 30 are eligible to apply. The last day for submitting application is August 16, 2018. 400 delegates will be chosen through a competitive selection process.
The YLS will provide the tools and information required for delegates to co-create a "Youth Manifesto", which will uphold issues that hinder the overall progress of the youth in Bangladesh, including an outdated education system, unemployment, gender inequality and lack of peace and social justice. After completion, it will be disseminated throughout the country through different channels and will be used as an advocacy tool for the youth. Subsequently, 10 high-performing young leaders from the summit will be selected to create a panel to represent the youth to ensure that the recommendations are truly heard.
