We for Them looks out for those in need

We for Them, a social welfare organisation based in Rangpur, started their journey in 2015. Currently, they are focused on navigating four different projects, based on raising awareness about different societal issues. They had to alter their priorities accordingly, owing to the ongoing pandemic.

Their four initiatives include 'We for Adolescent', where their volunteers pick schools for girls who may not have as much information about menstrual hygiene. They appoint a doctor to explain the need of using sanitary napkins through a video, after which the students are provided with free sanitary napkins. Their project, 'Education for Them' provides tutors to students who specially need help to study for board exams, at affordable rates.

Occasionally, We for Them has funded the education of several students, and provided them with school supplies as well. Their project, 'Food for Them' provides food to those who do not have the luxury to afford three meals a day. They also feed the leftover food, and at times, fresh food, to stray animals. Their project, 'Freelancing for Orphans' aims to teach students ways of earning money through freelancing online.

The organisation receives funds from their keen networks and maintains an active Facebook page. Recently, they provided food supplies to flood afflicted regions, and formed an emergency medicine delivery service, from 8 pm to 8 am, due to the pandemic. They obtained several PPE suits to keep their volunteers safe, when they work. Their volunteers have disinfected public buses and places and helped farmers by delivering their products directly to consumers. During Ramadan, they provided iftar and seheri packages to those in need, including rickshaw pullers.

With an objective to invest in sustainable projects, We for Them planted close to 100 trees outside Dhaka surrounding a distance of 2 kilometres. "We are always on the lookout for innovative and positive ideas to help people, as much as we can. Our volunteers have been unquestionably committed to their work, even during the pandemic," concludes Jibon Ghosh, the founder of the organisation.
