New stars storm the entertainment industry
In the arena of showbiz, new and upcoming talent are always looking for opportunities to prove their potential. However, since the level of competition in this industry is high, the probability of gaining recognition and acceptance is equally lower.
In the past few years, some of the new faces in showbiz have done well and have shown their potential to take over the industry in the future.
Tasnia Farin is one of those names. Starting out in the small screen, her performance in OTT would become critically acclaimed, catching the eyes of the audience.
Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's debut web-series "Ladies and Gentlemen" was a breakthrough performance for Farin. The actress went on to impress the audience with Mizanur Rahman Aryan's "Networker Baire", Shihab Shaheen's "Syndicate" and Syed Ahmed Shawki's series "Karagar".
Tanjim Saiyara Totini is another name that has shone a ray of sunshine over the industry, with her charming smile and powerful performance in Piplu R Khan's "Kolpona", an episode of the anthology series, "Ei Muhurte".
She went on to earn the title of "Shuhashini" after she was featured in the project of the same name—which was directed by Mizanur Rahman Aryan. At present, the actress is getting ready for her silver screen debut in Piplu R Khan's "Joya Aar Sharmin".
Shommo Jyoti and Dibbo Jyoti are twin brothers who have stepped into the world of showbiz together. They are the sons of celebrity couple, Brindaban Das and Shahnaz Khushi. Alongside their education, both twins have slowly started to make a name for themselves in the industry. Currently, they are busy with several television, OTT and film projects.
Shommo received a lot of appreciation for his role in the Hoichoi web-series "Kaiser", directed by Tanim Noor, where he shared the screens with Afran Nisho. Soon, he will be seen in Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar's upcoming film on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, "Tungiparar Dushshahoshi Khoka"—where he will be playing the role of Bangabandhu.
The rising star will also have a role in the second season of Ashfaque Nipun's much-anticipated web-series, "Mohanagar".
Dibbo, on the other hand, earned accolades for his role in the part two of Syed Ahmed Shawki's web-series, "Karagar". The actor received much appreciation for his role in Shakal Ahmed's "Pita Bonam Putro Gong". Dibbo has also worked in Shyam Benegal's "Mujib: The Making of a Nation", where he donned the role of a young Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The twin brothers also worked together on the TV series, "Moghol Family", together.
An interesting name that has slowly begun entering the industry is that of Masha Islam. Many have heard her magical voice when she made headlines for the title track of "Ladies and Gentlemen". Recently, she has also lent her voice to the track "Teka Pakhi" for the web project "Dui Diner Duniya".
The young singer has thousands of subscribers on YouTube, initially rising to popularity for covering songs in different languages. Masha will soon make her playback debut in the film "Noya Manush". Similarly, "Nasek Nasek" famed singer, Animes Roy won the hearts of millions for his extraordinary vocal style and relentless energy. Coke Studio Bangla gave the promising singer a platform to showcase his skills to the world. He too will be making his playback debut alongside Masha in the same film.
Another young starlet, Jannatul Ferdous Oishee captivated audiences with her beautiful smile and vivacious appearance. The "Mission Extreme" actress is also a beauty pageant champion, having been crowned Miss World Bangladesh in 2018. She represented Bangladesh at the Miss World competition in China, placing in the top 30 out of 118 contestants. She received widespread acclaim for her performance in the film, "Raat Jaga Phool". After the release of Black War, two of her films—"Adom" and "Noor"—are currently awaiting release.
Another popular face in showbiz is Samira Khan Mahi, a leading actress not just on the television, but also through social media—particularly YouTube and Facebook. Shafayet Mansoor Rana's directorial project "Black Box" is one of her most appreciated works.
Sadia Ayman rose to popularity through commercials, afterwards she received much appreciation for her back to back performances in Mizanur Rahman Aryan's "Phuler Namey Naam" and Shihab Shaheen's "Mayashalik". Soon, the actress will be making her silver screen debut in Gias Uddin Selim's directorial venture "Kajol Rekha". She will also be featured in "Kabadi" and "Internsheep".
Daughter of actress Farida Chanda and fiction director Sotirtho Rahman, Rodela Tapur made her silver screen debut in Ashutosh Sujan's debut-directorial film, "Deshantor". Her brilliant performance has already led to her fellow artistes expecting even more from the young star in the future.
In a short span of time, Nishat Nawar Salwa has worked in films like "Shopne Dekha Rajkonna" and "Birotto". She also worked in Kabori Sarwar's final directorial film, "Ei Tumi Shei Tumi", which has remained incomplete due to the director's demise. Currently, the actress is awaiting the release of her project, "Bubujan".
Gias Uddin Selim gave Shahnaz Sumi her big break through "Paap Punyo". With her acting prowess and gorgeous look, she has managed to win hearts after appearing in Raihan Rafi's "Damal". Soon, she will appear in Hoichoi's "Buker Moddhe Agun", directed by Taneem Rahman Angshu.
Since the release of "Mission Extreme"—the sequel to "Black War"—newcomer Sadia Nabila has been gaining a fan following. The actress portrays Ira, the police officer in the film. The newcomer made her debut on the silver screen with the Bollywood film, "Pareshaan Parinda". Sadia Nabila, who is an Australian expat, was the first runner up in a beauty pageant show. Currently, she is actively working in Dhallywood and is looking forward to working on quality projects.
Theatre in Bangladesh has been an important medium for the artistes. These troupes have been producing a lot of young talent. AKM Itmam, Tanzikun Shahin Saidur and Nahida Akher Akhi are some of the hot prospects who have been excelling in the art form.
In the realm of television anchors, Srabonno Tawhida, Mousumi Mou and Neel Hurerjahan are promising up and comers, who are also pursuing a career in the field of acting. Srabonno has appeared in multiple tele-fictions, while Mousumi Mou has featured in both tele-fiction and OTT projects such as "Boli".
Another hot prospect is Mahmuda Maha, who began her journey as a theatre artiste. She has been hosting several television shows and will be making her silver screen debut soon.
