Editor’s Note
This March 26 is probably one of the most sombre ones yet, with all celebrations cancelled as the country comes to grips with a global pandemic unlike any we have seen before. As we struggle to come to terms with this new reality we are faced with, it is now even more pertinent for us to look back at our history and take inspiration from those who took us forward into the greatest challenge the Bengalis have ever faced—our struggle for liberation. The examples set by our freedom fighters—their self-sacrifice, collective spirit and faith—is what we need more than ever if we are to deal with this pandemic together. We also remember Bangabandhu, the leader who took us forward in our fight with a courage of conviction and morality that is necessary in Bangladesh of today.
In the coming days, let us remember the spirit of Liberation and come together like we once did, for the sake of the country and its people, and get through this crisis.
