Rise High Bangladesh at Chittagong University
With the promise of promoting fresh and innovative export ideas, Season 2 of the Rise High Bangladesh contest started a campus activation programme yesterday simultaneously in Dhaka and Chittagong.
In Chittagong, the programme was held in the premises of Business Administration Faculty of Chittagong University with the slogan 'Be the next export leader', which attracted vigorous response from the university students.
The programme started at 9:00am and continued until 5:00pm yesterday. Despite regular classes and examinations, a great number of students approached the booths set up on the campus premises. The Rise High volunteers explained to them the objectives, incentives, and rules of participation.
The most attractive part of the programme was the puzzle-solving contest. The students were required to pick a clue card with information on a country's imported goods, and they had to guess the country. Successful participants were given prizes.
One of the winners of the puzzle contest, Md Nazrul Islam, a student of international relations department, expressed excitedly, “I must appreciate this initiative. I am very inspired to develop my own business plan and share it with the business community of the country.”
Another student from the marketing department, Sabrina Sultana, said, “I have already set up my mind to join the contest. Bangladesh has a rich heritage of handicrafts. My mother also runs a boutique shop. If we make an ingenious export plan with an attractive design, these products will find a good market anywhere in the world.”
Welcoming the Rise High Bangladesh Season 2 campaign, the Vice Chancellor of Chittagong University Prof Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury said, “I appreciate that The Daily Star and Crown Cement are continuing the export idea contest. Japan with the slogan of Quality Counts First has successfully created their brand value in many sectors. We need to create our own branding for accelerating the growth of the export sector. This contest will definitely give an opportunity to our students to contribute to the country's progress through generating new export ideas.”
