Rise High Bangladesh at Rajshahi University

With the promise of promoting fresh and innovative export ideas, Season 2 of Rise High Bangladesh contest held its campus activation programme on September 18 in Rajshahi University.

The programme was held in the premises of Tukitaki Chattar of Rajshahi University with the slogan 'Be the next export leader', which attracted vigorous response from the university students. The premise was well-decorated with banners and posters containing information about the contest.

The programme started at 9am and continued until 5:00pm. Despite regular classes and examinations, a great number of students approached the booths set up on the campus premises. The students of the university looked on curiously at the events going on. The Rise High volunteers explained to them the objectives, incentives, and rules of participation. All day long the premises were crowded with students learning about the initiative.

The most attractive part of the programme was the puzzle-solving contest, which attracted most of the students.In the game, the students were required to pick a clue card with information on a country's imported goods, and they had to guess the country. Successful participants were given prizes. One of the winners of the puzzle contest, Shakib Raihan, a second year student of the sociology department, excitedly said, “I am so much happy that I've won a prize in the puzzle contest. And yes, it’s a really good idea to organise such an event of export ideas!”

Another winner Taibur Rahman, a third year student of law department said, “I've been thinking about an export idea, and hope this initiative will help me explore it. And the game was the most interesting part. I feel happy to be a winner.”

The university authorities responded positively when asked about the initiative. Terming the programme as a noble venture, the Vice Chancellor of the University Prof M Abdus Sobhan praised The Daily Star. He thanked the English daily for taking such an initiative.

These kinds of programmes will help engage the young generation in good work, especially at a time when many of them are being misled, the VC added.
