Abrar Fahad, a student of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology who was brutally murdered in 2019 by members of Chhatra League, will be awarded the Swadhinata Padak 2024, Bangladesh’s highest civilian honour.
Muntasir Al Jemy, sentenced to death for the murder of Buet student Abrar Fahad, escaped from prison on August 6 last year, but the authorities kept the information from Abrar’s family until yesterday.
That should be determined by the needs of university students

Since the murder of Abrar Fahad, every time student politics has tried to make a comeback in Buet, current students have opposed it vehemently.
A mere “questioning” sent two of those students to the ICU. The ordeal didn’t end there. BCL leaders and activists forcibly entered the ICU and threatened the two ailing students. They said, “You are comfortable here [in the ICU]. We didn’t beat you much, and yet you are creating drama out of it. Don’t you dare name any names”
A group of Buet students is now at the DB office in Dhaka to get details about the death of their peer Fardin Noor Parash.
