Revised jury board announced for National Film Awards

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has announced changes to the National Film Awards 2023 jury board. The board, initially reformed on September 15, has undergone modifications with new members appointed in place of some earlier listed names. 

Journalists must comply with BFDC rules for entry

Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) has recently enforced new conditions upon journalists. From now on, they will not be able to randomly enter the premises of BFDC without cameras. Instead, they will need to take a pass from the authorities to enter the BFDC.

On April 3, 1957, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the erstwhile Minister of Industries and Commerce of East Pakistan, introduced the East Pakistan Film Development Corporation Bill at the Constituent Assembly. To mark that day, April 3 is observed every year as National Film Day in Bangladesh since 2012.

Road left in battered condition

Travelling on part of the road stretching from Sonargaon Hotel intersection to Hatirjheel roundabout has become a nightmare for city residents in the last six months or so.

Moghbazar Flyover / Change to create more chaos

The extended Moghbazar Flyover ramp near Sonargaon Hotel may make the already crammed street even more congested, according to an expert and project officials. Moreover, a 50-metre carriageway deck of the ramp, already built in front of the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (popularly known as the FDC) at a cost of around Tk 9.5 crore, would now have to be demolished, said a project official.
