Iqbal Hossain Tapos, Jatiya Party's mayoral candidate in the Barishal City Corporation (BCC) elections, alleged that ruling party supporters were stopping people from going to polling centres to cast votes
The Election Commission today said polls to five city corporations -- Barishal, Gazipur, Khulna, Rajshahi, and Sylhet -- would be held between May 23 to June 29.
The Barishal city is yet to see fully-fledged electioneering by the major political parties although the polls are just two weeks away.
Amid allegations of anomalies, the Election Commission had agreed to stop the voting of Barishal City Corporation (BCC) polls several hours after it began on July 30.
The High Court directs the law enforcers not to harass or arrest the activists, supporters and campaigners of any mayoral candidate of Barisal without any specific allegations till the election.
