Bhumi embarks on its journey with 'Artifying the Soul’

A new art gallery, Bhumi, commenced its journey on Tuesday (March 5) with a group art exhibition titled “Artifying the Soul” in Lalmatia, Dhaka. Renowned artists from around the country have showcased their reflections, memories, and everyday experiences through a diverse range of artworks featured in the exhibition, for its inauguration.

‘Poetrimage’ of birds, women, and poems

At Alliance Francaise de Dhaka (AFD), a gallery brims with the seamless integration of poetry and paintings, each element complementing the other in a harmonious blend. One can easily get lost in the artistic world that Reza Asad Al Huda Anupam has created for his second solo exhibition “Poetrimage”, the opening of which took place at AFD yesterday.

Remembering Faraaz through Proshanta Karmakar’s Art

Slated to run till April 19, 2023, the exhibition also has abstract paintings in bright colors and letters inspired from love and compassion that is extended towards Faraaz Ayaaz Hossain, by the people he has left behind.

When Bon Bibi comes to life

The scenography for the project was made by Paris-based multinational architecture, art, and design group Golem. It has been created with the support of Harper Collins India. The installation invites visitors to enter a forest of enormous pages where scenes from the book stand as tall as trees.

The art of expression: Rakibul Anwar's ‘Shonglogno’

"Shonglogno", a solo exhibition featuring the works of Rakibul Anwar was recently displayed at La Galerie, Alliance Francaise, Dhaka. The exhibition was inaugurated on November 18, in the presence of Her Excellency, Marie Masdupuy, Ambassador of France to Bangladesh; eminent artist Professor Dhali Al Mamoon, and artist-critic Mustafa Zaman.

'Kromosho': Munem Wasif tells Dhaka's story

On November 10, Project 88 inaugurated Munem Wasif's second solo-exhibition at their gallery in Mumbai, India. The exhibition is titled "Kromosho"--'step by step' in Bengali--and features Wasif's body of work, which the artiste has developed over almost two decades. Munem Wasif’s image-based works often mix photographs with moving images, archive documents or collected paraphernalia to reveal notions of impermanence and insecurity. A major theme throughout his work, is the philosophy of leaving things open to interpretation.
