The 20th instalment of the Third Eye Asian Film Festival is set to commence in Mumbai on January 12. This year three Bangladeshi films, namely “Saatao” by Khandaker Sumon, “Patalghor” by Noor Imran Mithu, and “Nona Pani” by Syeda Neegar Banu, have been chosen for inclusion in this festival.
Under BSA’s nationwide film screening initiative, “Ganajagorone Chalachitra Utsab”, the film is one of the 17 films which will be screened across the country from December 29, 2023, to January 5, 2024. “Satao” will be screened at 4 pm today.
The crowd-funded movie, "Saatao" is based on the lives of the marginalised community. Aynun Putul and Fazlul Haque are in pivotal roles in the movie.
Organised by the Federation of Film Societies of India (Eastern Region), this cinematic extravaganza promises to be a celebration of global cinema, with a special spotlight on the creative contributions of Bangladesh. Notably, three outstanding Bangladeshi films have been nominated for this year's event– Noor Imran Mithu's "Patal Ghar", Khandakar Suman's "Saatao", and Syeda Neegar Banu's "Nona Pani".
Khandaker Sumon directorial "Saatao" has been selected for the 19th Kazan International Muslim Film Festival.
Released on January 27, crowd-funded film "Saatao," directed by Khandkar Suman will be screening again from today at Roots Cine Club in Sirajganj.
Moreover, another Bangladeshi film, “Tulika” also earned the Best Film award in the Short and Documentary category.
The first edition of the festival was held in London in 2000, under the initiative of Mustafa Kamal, leader of the Rainbow Film Society. Since then, this film festival has taken place every year.
Debutant filmmaker Khandaker Sumon's directorial film, "Saatao," will be screening at Shilpakala Academy in Rangpur today and tomorrow. The film was made in the regional language of Rangpur.
The 15-day-long 3rd Bangladesh Film Festival came to a close, honouring seven film personas as the ‘Best’ in seven categories.
