#Events / Vegan Society Bangladesh organises the first Vegan Festival

On 23 February 2024, the Vegan Society Bangladesh organised the first-ever Vegan Festival of Bangladesh. The festival's hub included a variety of vegan food stalls where attendees could sample various vegan meal flavours. It was also a terrific chance for non-vegans to sample a range of vegan cuisine!

#Social Issues / Protigga Foundation's vision for a better Bangladesh

Protigga Foundation started its official journey in 2018, three years after the idea was first conceived. Their aim was simple — to help distressed people in disadvantaged positions and living in substandard conditions. Their main focus is to work on women’s menstrual health issues, family planning matters, providing women with different fundamental life skills, and imparting gender education. They also work with volunteers from different schools around the city to spread valuable message around.

#Arts / Activism through art

Throughout the ages, art has always been a powerful form of expression, capable of provoking thought and bringing change. It has always been a powerful tool for activism and as such, artists have always used their creativity and imagination to shed light on many social, economic, and environmental issues around us.

#Perspective / The trap of instant gratification

We live in a world where instant or immediate gratification is taken for granted. We do not want to wait for anything, even when waiting means more benefits or better products. Online shops and ease of making payments have enabled us to get what we want with just a few clicks. If we like something, we want it right now, especially when it does not cost us much. A result of all this is a world full of cheap and inferior quality products and also, substandard food items containing hormones, pesticides, antibiotics, preservatives, and artificial colours and flavours. Like consumers, producers do not want to wait either. They want to produce, sell, and reap profits right now.
