I will be honest, when I received such an overwhelming response for “Utshob”, it made me feel that my responsibilities as a performer have grown to a great extent. Also, people have developed great expectations of me. So, I would never want to let them down. I want to educate myself more as a performer and take acting lessons. I’m also nearing the end of my undergraduate degree in English Literature at NSU. So, I am striving to maybe go abroad for my higher studies.
The film will start streaming from August 7. Notably, Chorki has also announced that, alongside “Utshob”, the Shakib Khan-starrer film “Taandob” will be released on the same date.

Actor Shommo Joyti, who recently earned widespread acclaim for his role in the film “Utshob”, has announced that he will be taking a year-long break from acting. The film, which was released during Eid, has received strong reception both in Bangladesh and abroad.
Actor Chanchal Chowdhury has posted a humorous tribute to Zahid Hasan on Facebook, celebrating his character Jahangir from the film “Utshob”. The caricature, drawn by Chanchal himself, was captioned with a witty remark: “Recognise this gentleman? That’s the infamous Jahangir… Watch ‘Utshob’ to see him in action!”
The cast features Zahid Hasan, Jaya Ahsan, Chanchal Chowdhury, Aupee Karim, Tariq Anam Khan, Intekhab Dinar, Sadia Ayman, and Shoumya Joyti, among others.
Tanim Noor’s “Utshob” continues to draw crowds in its third week, with ticket sales exceeding Tk 2 crore within just 16 days of release. The star-studded film has maintained strong audience turnout, much to the delight of its director.
The special screening at Star Cineplex's SKS Tower branch was attended by several noted personalities, including renowned filmmaker and Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, economist and BRAC Chairperson Dr Hossain Zillur Rahman, teacher-writer-columnist Anu Muhammad, politician Zonayed Saki, and prominent artists and professionals from the media industry.
Following its successful domestic run, the family drama “Utshob”, which was released during Eid, is now set for an international release. The film has already struck a chord with urban audiences, with most screenings at local multiplexes going houseful. In its second week, showtimes have been increased to meet growing demand.
“I would describe ‘Utshob’ as an independent commercial film,” he explained, “because I faced quite a struggle finding producers for it. I’m deeply grateful to my wife Shormila Akter, director and producer Shakeeb Fahad, and, last but not least, Chorki, who believed in me and stood by me throughout the journey.”
Six films were released across cinemas in Bangladesh this Eid. Among them, “Taandob”, starring Shakib Khan and directed by Raihan Rafi, has led the charts from Eid day through the fifth day of the holiday. The film was released in 133 theatres nationwide, with midnight screenings (12am–3am) running in venues such as Chhaya Bani in Mymensingh, Rajtilok in Rajshahi, and Modhubon Cineplex in Bogura.
