Indian authorities have expelled hundreds of ethnic Bangalee Muslims to Bangladesh in recent weeks without due process, claiming they are “illegal immigrants,” Human Rights Watch said yesterday.
Several Bangladeshi nationals have alleged that Indian authorities tortured them prior to pushing them across the border.
Bangladesh has called on India to immediately stop the recent push-in of people across the border, warning that such actions pose risks to security and undermine mutual understanding.
