Pakistan spin wizard Mushtaq Ahmed has been in charge of the Bangladesh spinners for the past two international assignments -- the T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies followed by the two-match Test tour of Pakistan. His troops have delivered remarkable performances in both tours but the 54-year-old is yet to be offered a long-term contract. In an interview with The Daily Star’s Samsul Arefin Khan yesterday, Mushtaq shared his take on Bangladesh’s historic series win in Pakistan and his future with the Tigers.
The 23-year-old appears confident in his side’s batting skills
Off-spinner Nayeem Hasan suffered a finger injury during training in Mirpur today. Nayeem was batting during an indoor net session when he suffered the injury to his right index finger. He got out of the nets immediately as medical staff treated him, with his finger bleeding.
Spinner Nayeem Hasan was adjudged the player of the tier-2 tournament for his 36 scalps.
The fact that there is a dearth of players, especially off-spinners, in Bangladesh’s pipeline was made even more apparent following the Tigers’ recent debacle against Sri Lanka in the two-match Test series at home last month.
