Actors Tama Mirza and Afran Nisho are set to reunite in director Shihab Shaheen's upcoming movie “Dagi”.
Afran Nisho, one of Bangladesh's most celebrated actors, is set to make his much-anticipated return to cinema with the film “Daagi.” The title was officially registered with the Director's Guild just days ago, marking the actor's second venture into the world of cinema.
Celebrated actor Afran Nisho recently announced that the long-awaited shooting for his next film is set to begin in November or December this year, with the movie expected to be released during next year’s Eid-ul-Azha. The actor also revealed that he will continue working in films but in his own distinctive style.
The film “Hindi Vindi”, an Indian-Australian co-production, is gearing up for its October release in cinemas across India and Australia. The movie features rising star Rupanty Akid in a significant role and is directed by Indian filmmaker Ali Sayed, based in Sydney.
The student movements in Bangladesh have always led to significant outcomes. From 1952 to 1990, and even in 2024, each movement has achieved its goals. The victories of past movements have been captured in films and documentaries, and now, several new films and web series are in the works to depict the triumph of the anti-discrimination student movement.
In such challenging times, when protesters and civilians were indiscriminately killed, wholesale arrests, block raids, and a nationwide internet shutdown violated citizens' fundamental rights, keeping the nation on edge for weeks– only a few had the courage to raise their voices against the oppression and injustice.
In Bangladesh and beyond, the success of productions like "Kacher Manush Dure Thuiya" and "Myself Allen Swapan" suggests that meme marketing is more than just a passing trend. It represents a fundamental shift in how audiences interact with and share content. As the digital landscape continues to evolve, those in the film and streaming industry who can master the art of the meme may find themselves with a significant advantage in capturing the ever-elusive attention of modern viewers.
Even though “Golam Mamun” is a spin-off series, Shihab Shaheen uses it to reflect our current socio-political realities through fiction and brief dialogues, highlighting numerous inconsistencies in our surroundings. However, we should question his portrayal of everything under an invisible shadow, or ‘Hukumat’. This ‘invisible’ aspect implants a spectral reality in our minds, which eventually seems insurmountable. The ruling apparatus takes full advantage of this, becoming more active in masking their failures.
The “Boro Chhele” famed actor is increasingly getting known as Golam Mamun now and he feels great about people appreciating his projects. To his fans, he conveyed, “I want you all to pray for me, and I would like to say to everyone that I am grateful for all your love and support.”
