Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) today announced a prize pool worth Tk 73 lakhs for the winners of the upcoming BOA Marathon 2024 to be held on December 20 at the Jalshiri Abashon Project in Purbachal, Dhaka.
The BOA also decided to reward Tk 50 lakh to the Bangladesh women’s team for winning the SAFF Women's Championship title for the second consecutive time. It was also decided that the reward would be handed over in a programme in Cox’s Bazar where the Bangladesh Army would also handover Tk 50 lakh to the champion team.
The scenario raises questions about the selection process and effectiveness of the scholarship programme in improving athletes' performance on the global stage.
