Apple is developing a new Siri: Report
Apple is working on a new version of its Siri, the voice assistant, using advanced large language models (LLMs), according to a recent report by Bloomberg.
The revamped Siri, reported to rollout in 2026, is anticipated to fully replace the existing interface. The new version will reportedly integrate the capabilities of large language models with Siri's current access to personal information and apps, enabling an experience similar to OpenAI's Advanced Voice Mode.
This upgrade aims to position Apple competitively in the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence (AI) landscape, where rivals like Google's Gemini Live have set new standards for natural, human-like interactions.
Until this advanced version is ready, Apple is turning to external AI providers to enhance its ecosystem. OpenAI's ChatGPT is slated to become available through Apple Intelligence in December, providing iPhone users with access to advanced conversational AI. Apple has also reportedly held discussions with other AI companies, including Google and Anthropic, signalling a potential for collaborations.
