Apple introduces Final Cut Pro 11 with AI features
Apple has recently unveiled Final Cut Pro 11, with new AI features for video editing. Final Cut Pro 11 for Mac introduces two new AI-powered features:
Magnetic Mask: This tool allows editors to isolate subjects in a video clip automatically, eliminating the need for green screens or time-intensive rotoscoping. Editors can adjust backgrounds, apply effects, and fine-tune colour with precision because of automatic analysis powered by Apple's Neural Engine.
Transcribe to Captions: This feature uses Apple's large language model to generate closed captions directly in the timeline, enhancing accessibility and saving time.
The two AI features join a suite of existing AI tools, such as Smart Conform for social media-friendly formats, Enhance Light and Color, Smooth Slo-Mo, and Voice Isolation.
Spatial video editing for Apple Vision Pro
Final Cut Pro 11 now supports spatial video editing, a feature tailored for Apple Vision Pro. Editors can import and enhance spatial video footage, adjust depth, add effects, and preview left- and right-eye perspectives. Spatial videos can be captured using devices like the iPhone 16 or Canon EOS R7 and exported directly to Vision Pro for viewing.
According to the company, later this year, Apple plans to introduce a panoramic Mac Virtual Display, equivalent to two side-by-side 5K monitors, enabling users to edit spatial video projects on an ultra-wide curved screen.
Alongside this flagship update, Apple also released upgrades to Final Cut Pro for iPad, Final Cut Camera, and Logic Pro.
