'Asia's largest' freelancer convention held in Dhaka with over 3000 freelancers
A national freelancer convention was hosted today on August 19 at the International Convention Centre Bashundhara with the participation of over 3,000 freelancers from various regions across the country. Termed National Freelancer Conference 2023, or NFCON 2023 for short, the conference was said to be 'Asia's largest' freelancer conference.
Spanning 12 hours, the conference featured five panel discussions on topics such as graphic design, web development, digital marketing, and SEO. Additionally, a technical workshop was conducted. The event served as a platform for freelancers from across the country to network, learn, and discuss the future of the industry.
During the conference, 15 freelancers from the country were recognised for their special contributions and were awarded. The freelancers were Sabiha Arefin, Sheikh Khadija Khanam, Bibi Shawda, Priyanka Gain, Marzia Akhter, Anik Mahmud, Md. Mahfuzul Rahman, Md. Mamunur Rashid, Shakeel Ahmed, Md. Rezaul Islam, AR Shravan, Swaibul Islam, Mahmudul Hasan, Farzuk Ahmed, and Fahim Ul Karim. Post and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar presented the awards.
Nasima Akter Nisha, the Community Leader at Meta and President of Woman & E-commerce Trust (WE), took the stage at a panel discussion to share insights on transitioning from freelancing to entrepreneurship. Her talk emphasised the importance of a robust marketing strategy, the value of networking, honing problem-solving skills, and strategies to overcome challenges faced by female entrepreneurs.
Munir Hasan, the Chief Coordinator of Prothom Alo's Digital Transformation and Youth program, and Golam Kibria, Google's Industry Lead for the Bangladesh and Sri Lanka region, also spoke at the event.
