Bangladesh Bank announces Tk 800 crore equity fund for startups

Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Ahsan H. Mansur today announced two major funds to support the country's startup ecosystem during the ongoing Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025.
Speaking at the summit's flagship event, Bangladesh Startup Connect 2025, the Governor revealed an equity fund worth about BDT 800 crore, backed by commercial banks, to invest in early and growth-stage startups, as well as an additional debt/refinancing fund worth about BDT 400 crore to support the working capital needs of startups.
The announcement came during a high-level panel discussion at Hotel InterContinental, where Dr Mansur emphasised these initiatives would help prevent "brain drain" by keeping young talent and innovators in Bangladesh.
These funds complement the newly launched Startup Bangladesh Fund of Funds, an initiative designed to attract global and local venture capital into Bangladeshi startups.
