BSCCL to reduce internet prices by 10%

Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited (BSCCL) is reducing the prices of all types of internet by 10%. The decision was taken at the company's board meeting yesterday. As a result, companies will reduce their costs in both mobile internet and broadband services.
Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor at Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, said that the government is working to reduce the price of the internet. One such step is the wholesale price reduction. This decision will result in a 10% reduction in prices for all bandwidths at the internet's international gateway level.
In addition, DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) facilities are to be provided to mobile companies at the backbone level, which will reduce telecom companies' transmission costs by 39%.
The Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor said, "Discussions have already been held with telecom operators on this issue. It is expected that the operators will reduce the price of internet at the consumer level by up to 10%."
Special Assistant on Information Technology Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb also said that Bangladesh will be connected to the third submarine cable, SIMU-6, by the middle of next year.
