Greg Brockman, co-founder of ChatGPT parent OpenAI, has rejoined the artificial intelligence powerhouse three months after stepping down from his role as president. Brockman announced his return on X (formerly Twitter), sharing, "Longest vacation of my life complete. Back to building @OpenAI."

An OpenAI spokesperson confirmed to Reuters his return, and according to Bloomberg News, Brockman has been working closely with CEO Sam Altman to develop a new role tailored to address some of the company's "most critical technical challenges".

Brockman's return marks the latest shift at OpenAI, which has seen notable departures in recent months. Former Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati, co-founder John Schulman, and co-founder Ilya Sutskever have all left OpenAI, with Murati and Sutskever launching their own AI startups.

Sam Altman, OpenAI's CEO, also faced a significant shake-up, having been briefly ousted by the company's board in November 2023 before returning after a turbulent few days. The board's decision to remove him was largely unexplained, sparking confusion and unrest. However, Altman's quick reinstatement brought relief to employees and investors alike.
