The 4th National Data Science Summit 2024 was held on 11 December 2024 at Daffodil International University.

Hosted by The Data Science Lab and the Department of Software Engineering, the summit focused on the theme "AI in Education". It included expert talks, hands-on AI workshops, hackathons, and project exhibitions. This year, over 300 students from 10 institutions attended the summit.

A project exhibition participant from the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) said, "I came to the exhibition with our project called 'Krishak-Bandhu'. It connects farmers with agricultural experts."

Dr. Syed Akhter Hossain, Dean and Professor of the DIU CSE Department, was present during the summit. He said, "Through our events, the students will learn about the  changes in artificial intelligence."

Associate Professor of DIU and Head of the Department of Software Engineering, Dr. Imran Mahmud told The Daily Star, "In the AI products segment, the students create AI products that can be implemented not just imaginary. They already implemented the prototype. If the prototype is good enough then Daffodil International University will promote the software and help them to put those products on the market."

In his keynote address during the opening ceremony, Dr. Imran said, "We are trying to do this summit every year. Students in software engineering-related subjects need to have good knowledge about data. If we send students to the job market with this additional knowledge, their job possibilities will be higher than others. This is our main goal."
