Google unveils Pixel 5A 5G
When the Pixel 4A came out last year, it was on the top of the mid-range spec phones where it offered just enough, a 7nm Snapdragon 765G processor, 12.2MP main camera also paired with a 16MP ultra-wide and 6GB of RAM. Although the specs stated do not change in the 5A, there are certain key changes that render the phone more polished and desirable over the older model.
What is new in the Pixel 5A is the screen; 6.34'' over the 6.2'' display, which is 60Hz and, a new metal unibody design which also enables the phone to have IP67 dust and waterproof rating, which the previous model was lacking. The 5A also has a new corning gorilla glass 6, a significant update from the previous Gorilla Glass 3, and a larger 4680 mAh battery, where it was 3885 mAh on the 4A 5G.
On paper, the update seems rather boring; a lot of people expected new custom silicon which Google promised this year; you have to wait for the Pixel 6 for that. But other than that, the 5A sports essential tweaks where Google polished an already existing canvas for this year and also made the phone 50 dollars cheaper. Coming at $449, there are plenty of phones to choose from but Google, with its stock android experience and guaranteed speedy updates, puts the 5A in a league of its own.
