iPhone 18 Pro may launch in 2026, but standard model in 2027: report

Apple could split its iPhone 18 lineup across two different launch windows, with Pro models arriving in late 2026 and standard versions following in early 2027, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and a report from The Information. This would mark a major shift from Apple's traditional fall-only release cycle.
The new strategy would see the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, and a rumoured foldable model debut in the second half of 2026, while the standard iPhone 18 and a budget-friendly iPhone 18e would launch in the first half of 2027. As per the Apple-centric news platform MacRumors, Kuo suggests the change aims to compete with Chinese brands that release flagships earlier in the year and to streamline marketing as Apple's iPhone lineup expands.
If implemented, this would be Apple's first deliberate split in flagship iPhone releases since establishing its annual September launch pattern in 2011. The move could also help manage production demands as Apple's smartphone range grows to six models, suggests the reports.
Apple has not officially commented on or confirmed these plans.
