John Warnock, co-founder of Adobe, passes away
Dr John Edward Warnock, co-founder of the multinational software company Adobe Inc., passed away on August 19, Saturday. According to an official statement by the company, he was 82 years of age during his final breath. The cause of death was not officially disclosed.
"It is a sad day for the Adobe community and the industry for which he has been an inspiration for decades," said Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen in an email addressed to the employees.
John Warnock, with the American computer scientist Dr Charles Matthew Geschke, founded Adobe in 1982. Both of them were co-chairmen of the company's board until 2017. Charles Geschke passed away on April 16, 2021, aged 81 years old.
Warnock retired as the CEO in 2000, succeeded by Bruce R. Chizen until 2007, after which current CEO Shantanu Narayen took over.
