Messi's World Cup celebration becomes the highest liked Instagram post

Captain of the FIFA World Cup 2022 winning team and the Golden Ball winner, Lionel Messi, broke the record for having the most liked post on Instagram.

Addressing his historic win, Messi's Instagram account posted photos of him and the Argentina team holding the World Cup and celebrating. The post, in which Messi delivered a heart-warming speech about his latest achievement, has been trending on the social media platform for many hours since it was uploaded.

At the time of writing, the post has over 60.3 million likes and 1.6 million comments, surpassing the current 56.5 million likes of the egg photo, which was previously the most-liked post on Instagram.

Messi's Instagram account currently has over 403 million followers, and has uploaded three other posts regarding his World Cup win since, including a photo of him sleeping with the Cup, which has gained around 2.3 million likes within 2 hours.
