Meta and Oakley introduces AI-integrated smart glasses with camera

Meta has partnered with sports eyewear brand Oakley to unveil a new line of AI-integrated smart glasses called Oakley Meta HSTN glasses, designed to blend wearable technology with performance sportswear on June 20.
According to a recent blog post by Meta, the Oakley Meta HSTN glasses introduce a hands-free experience for athletes and active users, combining a built-in camera with Meta's AI assistant. Users can capture photos and 3K resolution video, access real-time information, and interact with the device using voice commands.
Integrated open-ear speakers allow for music streaming, podcasts, and communication while in motion. The glasses are water-resistant, rated IPX4. Select models also feature Oakley's proprietary PRIZM lens technology, aimed at enhancing colour and contrast across varying light conditions, as per Meta.
Meta AI meets wearable design
The glasses feature Meta AI, the company's voice assistant, which users can prompt with queries ranging from weather conditions to sports-related insights. Meta AI is built to support activities like golf, surfing and running, by providing situational data and enabling content creation through voice-activated media capture.
According to Meta, the Oakley Meta HSTN glasses offer up to eight hours of active use and 19 hours of standby time. A charging case extends usability with up to 48 additional hours of charging capacity. The devices can charge to 50 per cent in just 20 minutes.
The release follows the success of the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, which have reportedly sold millions of units since launch.
Availability and pricing
The limited-edition Oakley Meta HSTN will be available for preorder beginning 11 July, priced at $499. The other collections, starting at $399, are expected to launch later this summer across North America and Europe, with further expansion to countries including Mexico, India and the United Arab Emirates by the end of the year.
