Oracle and Microsoft are in talks to take over TikTok's global operations, according to a report from National Public Radio (NPR), a US-based broadcasting platform. The plan would reduce Chinese ownership of the app and address security concerns tied to its parent company, ByteDance, states the report.

Under the deal being discussed, ByteDance would still own a small share of TikTok, but Oracle would take charge of important areas like managing data, updating software, and overseeing the app's algorithm. Oracle, which already provides much of TikTok's online infrastructure, would ensure ByteDance has no hidden control, states the NPR report, which cites two anonymous sources with direct knowledge of the matter.

Microsoft is also involved in the discussions, but its exact role is unclear. White House negotiators have stated that ByteDance believes TikTok is worth more than $200 billion, making the deal very expensive, states NPR.

This plan comes after an earlier push by the US government to force ByteDance to give up control of TikTok over fears it could allow Chinese access to American user data. While no final decision has been made, the talks show a renewed effort to secure TikTok's future in the US.

For Oracle and Microsoft, the deal could be a big opportunity, while TikTok could gain from meeting US security demands. However, the details of the agreement are still being worked out by the White House and concerned parties, adds the report.
