Postal workers to get e-bikes for smooth delivery services: Faiz Taiyeb

Bangladesh's postal service is introducing a series of reforms aimed at improving delivery efficiency, including the allocation of electric bikes to postal workers, according to Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser at the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology.
According to Faiz Taiyeb electric bikes would be provided to postal runners or postal workers to save time and streamline delivery operations.
"We will begin the project next week by providing 145 e-bikes to postal workers," Faiz Taiyeb told The Daily Star.
Taiyeb also mentioned that the government is also working on the digitisation of postal addresses, including the mapping of geo-locations linked to addresses. This digital infrastructure is expected to enhance the precision and reach of delivery services.
In another key move, the Postal department is planning to sign memorandums of understanding (MoU) with private courier and parcel service providers. According to Taiyeb, the state-run postal service maintains a strong presence in rural areas, while private providers dominate urban logistics. The aim is to create a unified national parcel distribution network that improves the nationwide delivery capabilities by leveraging the strengths of both public and private sectors.
"We are also making plans on how to utilise the Postal Department in the upcoming mango season. These initiatives are part of a broader reform project involving the posts division," Faiz Taiyeb told The Daily Star.
