Team Bangladesh wins 10 medals at Int’l Robot Olympiad 2025

Team Bangladesh has secured a total of 10 medals, including two golds at the 26th International Robot Olympiad (IRO) held from January 17 to 20 at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Centre (BEXCO) in Busan, South Korea.

Among the 26 countries which participated in the competition, the 10-member Bangladeshi team, selected through rigorous national-level competitions, earned two gold medals, four silver medals, and four bronze medals, according to a recent press release by Bangladesh Robot Olympiad (BDRO).

The gold medal winners included Arietti Islam (Monipur High School and College), of the Anari team in the 'Creative' junior group category; Namiya Rojat Nubala (HURDCO International School) of the Seriously Clueless team, in the 'Creative Movie' senior group category.

Arietti Islam from the Anari team also received a silver medal in the 'Physical Computing' junior group. In the 'Creative Movie' senior group category, Nusaiba Tajrin Tanisha (YWCA Higher Secondary Girls' School) of the Zeroth team, and Priyanti Das (Scholastica) of Team Shifu received silver medals. The trio from Dhaka Residential Model College (DRMC) which includes Hasin Ishrak Chowdhury Taha, AZM Imtenan Kabir, and Abrar Abir of the Saf.AI team, received silver medal in the 'Creative' senior group category.

In the 'Physical Computing' junior group category, Nafia Basar Suhani (Mohammadpur Preparatory School and College) of The Screw Loose team achieved a bronze medal. In the 'Physical Computing' senior group category, Nusaiba Tajrin Tanisha of the Zeroth team, and Namiya Rojat Nubala of the Seriously Clueless team achieved bronze medals. Moreover, the Saf.AI team, comprising Hasin Ishrak Chowdhury Taha, AZM Imtenan Kabir, and Abrar Abir won bronze in the 'Creative Movie' senior group category.

The road to the International Robot Olympiad began with the 7th Bangladesh Robot Olympiad, held in September and October 2024. Organised by the Bangladesh Open Source Network, the competition featured multiple phases to select the nation's representatives. The finalists then underwent an intensive two-month, 21-session high-performance training camp to prepare for the global stage, as per the press release.

Last year, Team Bangladesh won 15 awards including 3 gold medals at the 25th International Robot Olympiad. In the last 7 years, Team Bangladesh has received 14 gold medals in IRO, according to BDRO.
