TikTok launches Safety Centre for Bangladesh
Much debated short video platform, TikTok yesterday has made the announcement of launching a dedicated Safety Centre for Bangladesh. This online Safety Centre will act as a one-stop destination providing access to safety policies, and resources in both Bengali and English, according to a press release issued by the platform yesterday.
The press releases also state that the Safety Centre will include guidance on how to prevent cyber bullying, has a Parental Guide feature, Family Pairing which allows a parent or a family member to link their TikTok account to their teens and set control over "Screen Time Management", "Restricted Mode" and control who can send them a message. The TikTok Safety Centre also houses several articles and safety videos that are easy to use.
Recently, TikTok has been receiving end of a lot of heat due to a string of incidents in Bangladesh. Lately, its fate in Bangladesh is hanging on a high court verdict pending in few weeks. However, the platform has been proactively working on several initiatives to help raise awareness among the digital community around online scams, safety and responsible use of the platform.
