Twitter removes Prime Minister’s fake verified account
Microblogging platform Twitter recently suspended a fake account posing as the official page of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and bearing a blue verified check mark.
When the fake account @Sheikh HasinaBD was discovered on Friday, it sparked a social media outrage.
The Bangladeshi government denied that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had a Twitter or other social media account in a statement.
Previously in 2019, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained some people for creating fake Facebook pages of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her family.
According to Musk's new policy on Twitter, a grey tick represents a government official, institution, or international organisation.
