X, formerly Twitter, to collect users' biometric data and personal history
X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, will start collecting the users' biometric data, employment history, educational background, and other personal information, as part of the app's new privacy policy. This new policy will begin effect from September 29, as per official information from the company.
As per a report by CBS News, this data collection will apply to Premium users of X only. Furthermore, users will be asked to provide consent to the data collection, which X says will be used for "safety, security, and identification purposes" as well as to "show more relevant advertising".
The policy further states that personal data such as employment history and educational background will be used to recommend potential jobs for the users.
Specific details regarding how the data will be gathered or used have not yet been stated by the social media company.
